2 Corinthians 10:4-5
4 (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Our background, parents, experiences and even the teachings in our churches have formed and shaped us and our belief system. What Paul is telling us in this passage is that we need to apply the Word of God in every situation. Every thought that is found in our mind must be brought into subjection to the Word.
In many cases we become prisoners of our minds and our thoughts.
Thoughts of condemnation and thoughts of unworthiness that have been formed in our belief system can control us to such a degree, that we find ourselves bound and not able to enjoy God’s love, grace and peace in our lives.
Do not let words of parents, friends and even preachers of the gospel determine your worth in the eyes of God. Many cry out “I’m not worthy! “I’m not worthy!”
I want you to look at the cross and the sacrifice God gave for you in the person of Jesus Christ, and then ask yourself this question: Would God do this for you if He thought you were not worthy?
Men’s opinion of you is not what counts. What counts is God’s opinion, and God was willing to give His Son for you.
So we take God’s truth, the Word of God and break down strong-holds, imaginations and every high thing that has exalted itself against the true knowledge of God!
